With 3 wins out of 3 races a strong B&R men’s team travelled to the final fixture at Top Barn, Worcester knowing that, barring a disaster they would be competing in Division 1 of the Birmingham League Cross Country next year.The dry, flat 4 lap course favoured star junior athlete Alex Adams who set off with the leaders and managed to break away, winning his second race in a row by a margin of 18 seconds over Halesowen’s Max Parker.Alex was followed home by Joe Smith in 4th, star veteran James Marshall 11th, Ty Adkins 19th, Mark Appleton 21st and Henry Gibbs 23rd, giving the team an 80 points victory over second placed Cannock and Staffs AC and winning the series with an incredible 310 points, way ahead of second placed Halesowen on 736 points.The scoring six were well supported by their team mates in the following positions:Nick Dale 39th, Patrick Mackie 45th, Pete Ball 49th, Wayne Watkins 56th, Brett Elesmore 61st, Thomas Reichow 67th, Ryan Lee 76th, Luke O’Gorman 82nd, Richard Banks 105th, Andy Freeman 118th, Will Noyce 125th, Tom Richardson 152nd, Ian Keyte 169th and Mathew Clay 170th. There were 198 finishers.This performance ensured that B&R had a clean sweep of all the trophies winning the A team, B team, Masters A and Masters B.Alex won junior and senior gold medals to go with his team gold.
