Very sad to announce that Dave Carney, a long standing and enthusiastic B&R AC member died on Monday 23 September 2024 after a short illness.
Until recently Dave had been, for very many years, responsible for checking race results and maintaining our Club’s record performances. And often spent hours researching old race results to ensure our Club’s Records were correct and individual record performances were recognised.
Dave also competed for the Club, setting records of his own and there are still a number in his name for 400m, 1500m, and one mile on the track, to go with a 5km road record – some from over 20 years ago.
Dave was also generous with his support for our Club in other ways – as a track judge for many years, attending the AGM, other Club meetings, Awards Nights, and marshalling at the Waseley Wobbler.
